The Ecovacs Deebot T8 is a robot vacuum released in 2020. It offers 1500Pa of suction power for picking up dirt and debris. This model is a hybrid vacuum-mop, so it can also wet mop hard floors in addition to vacuuming. On a single charge, it can run for up to 200 minutes before needing to return to the dock. It is rated to clean areas of up to 280m² per cleaning session.

Deebot T8 - Where It Stands

Editorial notes last verified: September 2026

The T8 was released in March 2020, a year after the Ozmo 950 (2019) reviewed earlier on this site. On top of the Ozmo 950’s simple LiDAR, a laser-based system called TrueDetect 3D was added for real-time obstacle detection (not a camera; that’s the only difference offered by the more expensive T8 AIVI variant). A HEPA filter, absent from the Ozmo 950, also came with this model.

With 1,500 Pa of suction, the T8 ranks 26th in Ecovacs’ current active catalog (out of 26 models), at the very bottom. Not a bad number for 2020, but quite behind by today’s standards.

In terms of noise, at 67 dBA, it’s again at the noisy end of Ecovacs’ active catalog: ranked 10th among 12 models.

Charging time is 300 minutes, or a full 5 hours: quite slow. This basic T8 model lacks any self-maintenance features such as automatic dust emptying, automatic water tank filling, or automatic mop washing and lifting; all of it is done manually.

The T8 family is confusingly extensive: the basic T8 (this review), the T8 AIVI offering camera and AI-based obstacle recognition, the T8+ with an automatic dust-emptying station, and the T8 Max. This site currently covers only the basic model; the other variants don’t have separate pages.

    Highlights from user reviews

    • Multiple users on Reddit report charging and motherboard failures: battery replacement fixes it for some but not for others, and several suspect this might be a deliberate end-of-life design.
    • One user notes that the robot loses its position and map when moved by hand to another floor, calling it the most frustrating part of the device’s design.

Even so, the T8 remains an affordable name still found in the second-hand market today, one that offered laser-based real-time obstacle detection for its era.
