The Deebot Ozmo 950 was Ecovacs’ flagship in 2019 and won a Red Dot Design
Award that year. It was the brand’s first model capable of permanently storing
multi-story maps. Thanks to its Smart Navi 3.0 laser mapping system, the robot could
now remember the house layout, a feature that’s become standard in many models
today, making it stand out at the time.
Ironically, several users on Reddit report problems with this very feature: the map
randomly disappears, sometimes several times a week, forcing the robot to remap. One
user says being careful to place the device back in the same spot after turning it
over reduces the problem.
With 1,500 Pa of suction power, it ranks 26th out of
26 models in Ecovacs’ current active catalog. In
2019, this figure was sufficient for the brand’s flagship. In the years since,
the suction power race has progressed significantly.

On the noise side, the situation is slightly better: at 66 dBA, it ranks
9th out of 12 models in
Ecovacs’ current active catalog, toward the noisier end of the range but not the
worst. As for the HEPA filter, unlike the vast majority of Ecovacs’ current
active models, the Ozmo 950 doesn’t have one.

remapping. One user notes this happens especially when the robot is moved manually
or not put back in the same place.

The Ozmo 950 lags behind today’s standards in both suction power and basic
features like the HEPA filter, and there are user complaints about mapping reliability
too. Still, thanks to its battery life and overall time-saving performance, users say
they find the device valuable despite the occasional malfunction.
